Office 365 Roadmap Update | 2020-30

Thirty items were added to the Office 365 Roadmap last week, July 19 – 25, 2020. In an effort to keep the weekly digest post from being extraordinarily long, I have separated the Office 365 Roadmap updates out again for this week.

Administrators will be able to set a Policy to allowing a list of extensions to automatically open. This Policy will set those extensions to use the default “automatically open files of this type” list.

Group policy support that lets Administrators add site + app combos that are trusted to launch without the confirmation prompt. This adds the ability for Administrators to configure trusted protocol/origin combinations (such as for Microsoft 365 apps) for their end-users to suppress the confirmation prompt when navigating to a URL containing an app protocol.

Select Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscriptions that include Power Apps and Power Automate are expanding with the introduction of Microsoft Dataflex – a built-in, flexible datastore supporting relational, image and file data with a one-click experience for deploying solutions natively in Teams. With Dataflex, Power Apps capabilities included in select Microsoft 365 and Office 365 licenses will expand to provide an integrated app studio for users to build and deploy custom apps within Teams. Similarly, Power Virtual Agents capabilities are being introduced to Teams. Users will now be able to build and deploy custom chatbots in Dataflex environments directly within Teams. New Power Automate capabilities will also be available in Teams, including the ability to trigger flows directly from Teams messages.

A new lobby type option is coming to PowerShell and Teams Admin Center that allows tenant administrators to assign a user-level policy to send everybody but the Teams meeting organizer into the meeting lobby. Once assigned, all meeting attendees–including those from within the same organization–will be sent to the meeting lobby to be admitted by the organizer.

The Azure AD and SAP SuccessFactors integration enables organizations to automate the provisioning and deprovisioning of users from SAP SuccessFactors to Azure AD and on-premises Active Directory. Employees that join or move within an organization can get their user account quickly created in Azure AD and access the resources they need, creating a great end-user experience and increasing productivity.
Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection: Improvements to Threat Hunting with Threat Explorer and Real Time Detection66467Q3 CY2020Added: 22 July 2020

As part of this work, we will be introducing additional enhancements when it comes to identifying threats within your organization. This includes the following updates: (1) Addition of spam verdict within Threat Explorer, so that going forward you will be able to identify if a particular email was Malware, Phish or Spam, (2) Introducing Threat Type Filter for All Email View, so that you can directly go to All-Email view and filter out the malicious emails, (3) Showing Threats in URLs to identify the verdict associated with a URL (Malware, Phish, Spam or None), (4) Introducing Additional Actions to identify the post-delivery actions like ZAP or Manual Remediation which were applied to an email, (5) Updating delivery location to show both Original and the latest delivery location for an email, (6) Updating Email Timeline to make it simpler, and showing more details when it comes to showing information about post-delivery events like ZAP, and (7) Enabling information about Tenant/User level Overrides applied on an email which may have impacted delivery location.
Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection: Extended capabilities in Threat Explorer66468Q3 CY2020Added: 22 July 2020

As part of this work, we will be extending Top Targeted Users to Phish and All Email. You’ll also have the ability to export the list of Top Targeted Users across each view for offline analysis. We’ll also be surfacing the list of Transport Rules (both names and GUIDs), and the Inbound exchange Connectors that were applied to an email. The data retention period for trial experiences for both ATP P1 and ATP P2 customers will be extended.
